Spanish Language Course

Course Description

This course is aimed at providing students with a general introduction to the Spanish Language: sound system, pronunciation, functional vocabulary related to everyday life, cultural information and basic grammatical structures.

 

Particular emphasis will be on the acquisition of four vital skills: -Listening -Speaking -Reading & -Limited writing Our key objective is to empower students with the ability to carry on simple conversations.

 

The second is to provide the students with tools necessary for the basic understanding of Spanish grammatical concepts, lifestyles, culture, and vocabulary.

Learning Outcomes

To ensure that students can demonstrate an Advanced average level of proficiency in Spanish in speaking, writing, listening and reading.

Speaking

Students would be able to tackle a variety of communicative tasks by participating in most informal and some formal conversations on topics related to education/school, home, and leisure activities. They should be able to talk about some topics related to employment, current affairs, and issues of public and community interest.

Listening and Reading

Exhibit understanding of short conventional narrative and descriptive texts (spoken/written). These include descriptions of persons, places, presents, and future events with a clear underlying structure even if their comprehension may be uneven.

Writing

Portray the ability to carry out basic work and other academic writing needs. Demonstrate the ability to narrate, describe and express personal viewpoints on topical issues.
